Our foundational 3-day workshop first provides TIDES training participants with theoretical knowledge about our foundational philosophies: Neuroscience Awareness, Trauma Informed Care, and Desistance.
Day One sets the stage by exploring the intricate connections between brain science and behavior, unveiling how trauma impacts the desistance process.
Day Two delves into the practical application of our four research-informed components: Self-Regulation, Identity, Resilience, and Social Support. Each component is explored through interactive sessions and real-life case studies, illustrating how they interweave to support individual growth and sustainable change.
Day Three unveils the TIDES Compass, an innovative framework that encapsulates the essential skills and strategies for translating theoretical knowledge into effective, trauma-responsive client interactions. This final day focuses on equipping participants with practical tools and techniques, fostering the confidence to implement the TIDES model in their day-to-day work.
Our workshop goes beyond traditional training by offering a holistic understanding of how trauma-informed care and desistance theories complement existing correctional practices. We are committed to creating an engaging and transformative learning environment, where theoretical knowledge seamlessly translates into actionable, practical strategies.

TIDES offers four, two hour sessions that are virtual or in-person within 6 months of initial training. TIDES is more than our experiential training events. Explore with us how to put Trauma-informed, and Desistance theories into practice with our sustainability sessions. From line staff to supervisors and administrators, individuals are encouraged to set goals and create plans to put theory into practice in their daily work and personal growth.
Sustainability Sessions are designed to reinforce and build upon the initial training, providing ongoing support as your agency integrates the TIDES model into daily practice. These sessions are critical for addressing challenges, sharing successes, and refining strategies to ensure the TIDES approach becomes a sustainable part of your agency’s culture and operations.
